Under the directives of the newly-appointed Minister of Railways, Hanif Abbasi, Pakistan Railways will operate additional trains starting from the 25th of Ramazan. This move is expected to ease travel congestion and offer more options to those journeying for Eid festivities. Furthermore, ticket prices have been lowered to ensure affordability for all travelers.
Ensuring passenger safety remains a key priority for the railway authorities. Minister Abbasi has emphasized the need for modern security measures, instructing officials to install advanced surveillance systems at major railway stations and onboard trains. These measures aim to prevent accidents and enhance overall security for commuters.
In parallel with these Eid-specific arrangements, Pakistan Railways is also focused on long-term improvements to its infrastructure. One of the major projects in progress is the upgrade of Main Line-1 (ML-1), a modernization effort intended to enhance the country’s railway system. The government is actively negotiating with international partners to secure funding and technical expertise for the project.
Meanwhile, passengers may also benefit from an extended holiday period. Reports indicate that Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 could bring up to six public holidays, allowing people more time to celebrate with their families.
