Pakistan Announces Three-Day Public Holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr 2025

 

 


 

 

 

The federal government has officially declared a three-day public holiday in observance of Eid-ul-Fitr 2025. According to the notification issued on Wednesday, the holidays will begin on Monday, March 31, and extend until Wednesday, April 2.

Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to Convene for Moon Sighting

As per astronomical predictions, Eid-ul-Fitr is expected to fall on March 31 (Monday). The Shawwal moon is anticipated to be visible at 3:58 PM on March 29. The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will convene on March 29 and March 30 to confirm the moon sighting. Reports suggest that the moon will be around 27 hours old when observed, increasing the likelihood of its visibility.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has projected that the crescent will be visible for approximately one hour on March 30, making it highly probable that Shawwal 1 will be marked on March 31.

Weather Forecast for Eid Holidays

Meanwhile, the Met Office has predicted that Karachi will experience hot and humid conditions during the Eid festivities. Temperatures are expected to rise up to 37 degrees Celsius, with increased moisture levels contributing to a scorching climate.

Eid-ul-Fitr, which signifies the conclusion of the sacred month of Ramazan, is among the most cherished religious celebrations in Pakistan. Millions of people travel across the country during this time to reunite with family and loved ones, making it one of the busiest and most anticipated occasions of the year.
