Did You Know? Pakistan Purchased Gwadar for Just PKR 23 Million! 🇵🇰

 

 




 

On December 8, 1958, Pakistan officially acquired Gwadar from the Sultanate of Muscat and Oman for $3 million (approximately PKR 23 million at that time).

🔹 Who Helped in the Purchase?
The deal was not a gift, but it was facilitated by Prince Karim Aga Khan, who helped raise the funds for Pakistan.

🔹 Who Finalized the Deal?
The agreement was signed under President Iskander Mirza's leadership, and Pakistan took full control of Gwadar.

🔹 Why Was Gwadar Important?
Before 1958, Gwadar was under Omani control for over 200 years! Today, it is one of Pakistan’s most strategic deep-sea ports, playing a key role in CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor) and regional trade.

🔹 Fun Fact:
Had Pakistan not acquired Gwadar, it might have remained under foreign control even today!
